The launch party of the Autumn Winter Season of Lakme Fashion Week was held at the F.Bar and Lounge in Mumbai last night and almost everyone who was anyone in the fashion industry was out to party like crazy before the five days of back-to-back shows starts, today.
Among all the leggy lasses and pumped-up boys, we were happy to bump into former actor and model Upen Patel who was there with friends and kept a low profile throughout the evening.
Upen was among India’s top models (having walked the ramp for Manish Malhotra, Arjun Khanna, Vikram Phadnis etc) before Bollywood beckoned and he crossed over to the silver screen, starring in a number of films like 36 China Town, Namastey London and Money Hai Toh Honey Hai.
Then, all of a sudden he disappeared and tells us, “I needed some time off to work on other things!”
But now Upen is back! “I’m right now based in Chennai because I’m acting in a South film and I’m also looking at some interesting projects in Bolywood as well,” he tells us with a mischevious twinkle in his eyes.
Will we be seeing him as a celebrity show-stopper at Lakme Fashion Week this season? “You never know,” he quips mysteriously.
