Karan Johar started off his Bollywood career under Aditya Chopra‘s wings, by assisting him in direction and screenplay for Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Unfortunately, it seems like all is not well between these two. In fact, our spies tell us that Adi is quite miffed with KJo…
Apparently, Karan’s Student of the Year is very similar to a movie that was being planned by Y! Films (the youth-geared wing of Yash Raj Films). Before Karan was planning on returning as a director for the film, Aditya sent him a text message asking whether he was going to be making a young college romance, specifically one set against the backdrop of a musical. Karan allegedly said no, but then Aditya found out Student of the Year was already commissioned to be made, and it looks like that didn’t go over to well with him.
Some evidence of a rift was overheard at a recent event when Yash Chopra was asked whether he had seen the first promo of the film. He flashed his phone at the reporter and said, “Karan has my number, he can call and show the film to me.”
Oof. Guess it’s your move now, Karan!
