Non-Film Songs!

After sharing with you my favourite masala songs from the 90s, I’m back with another playlist – this one with the best non-film songs! I fancied a trip down memory lane today, so the girls in the office and I had a blast digging up some of those music videos from back in the day. We would spend ages listening & watching the videos – these songs sort of feel like the soundtrack of our earlier days! If you were into the non-Bollywood music scene that was prevalent in the 90s and early 2000s, check out our playlist – you may rediscover some old favourites. I know I did!

1) Made in India – Alisha

If you haven’t heard this song, you probably grew up under a rock. One of the most famous songs to come out of the pop scene!

2) Chui Mui Si Tum – Milind Ingle

I used to love this video – it was so adorable! Remember how wildly popular those koala bear clip-ons became after the song released?

3) Aankhon Mein Tera Hi Chehra – Aryans

How cute does Shahid Kapoor look in this video?

4) Maine Payal Hai Chankai – Falguni Pathak

How could Falguni be missing from this list? Her earlier songs were a permanent fixture of my childhood days – I especially remember watching Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi over and over again.

5) Kya Surat Hai – Bombay Vikings

Such a fun song! It used to be continuously stuck in my head.

6) Tunak Tunak Tun – Daler Mehndi

Ah, the good ol’ Daler Mehndi! Not only were his songs highly entertaining, but so were the videos. Re-watching old Daler videos is definitely a source of entertainment for me.

7) Purani Jeans – Ali Haider

This song is still a favourite for last days and reunions.

8) Aur Aahista – Pankaj Udhas

I absolutely love this song and the video. Sameera Reddy is gorgeous.

9) Tu – Sonu Nigam

Tuuuuu… kab yeh jaanegi! Tuuuuu… kab yeh maanegi! Yep, definitely stuck in my head now.

10) Ho Gayi Hai Mohabbat Tumse – Aslam & Shibani

One of my favourites – absolutely love this song! I can still listen to it anytime.
