Soft spoken and eloquent, designer Amit Aggarwal has been wowing the Indian fashion industry with his sculptural pieces for a while now. Splitting with his label Morphe, he has now ventured out on his own and held a special exhibition at multi-designer store Ensemble for his new line of saris.
As soon as you enter the an array of saris greets you. These couture-like pieces toe the line between evening gowns and saris. Agarwal’s vision has breathed new life into our national dress. The traditional blouse has become longer and given a sensual twist with sheer panels and pleated drapes.
Using his trademark muted colours and jewel tones, he finishes them off with materials such as metal and plastic making them quite literally works of art. I found out that international pop star Katy Perry has picked out two pieces from his collection to wear in the future. Isn’t that awesome?
