Last night in Mumbai, the iconic Jehangir Art Gallery, the city’s most prestigious art destination, celebrated its sixtieth anniversary with India Modern – an evening of art, fashion and music along with its patrons Harsh Goenka and Sangita Jindal.
The evening started with a vote of thanks by Bollywood actress Vidya Balan which was then followed by a fashion presentation by Sabyasachi Mukherjee to a soul stirring performance by Shubha Mudgal. Models walked the ramp with stars twinkling abovein the heavens, palm trees in the courtyard and the Prince of Wales Museum as a grand backdrop.
This was followed by a felicitation ceremony of leading Indian artists by Vidya Balan. Among those felicitated were Akbar Padamsee, Jogen Chowdhury, KG Subramanyan, Krishen Khanna, Prafulla Dahanukar, Suhas Roy and Thota Vaikuntam for their long association with the Jehangir Art Gallery. Vidya Balan graciously placed a shawl on each ones shoulders.
Spotted at the event were Sarayu Doshi, Chanda Kochchar, Sajjan Jindal, Harsh Mariwala, Laila 7 Ricky Lamba, Indu & Ranjit Shahani, Ila Arun, Brinda Miller, Smita Parekh, Bindu & Srikant Zaveri, Atul & Alka Nishar, Laxman Shreshta, Sabina & Anil Chopra, Lalitha Lajmi, Sumita Ghai, Tina Tahiliani, Perizaad Kolah, Kalpana Shah, Malti Jain, Arzan & Khushnuma Khambata.
