Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro has gained a cult following since its release, and while most of us have seen it (perhaps multiple times), a lot of us may have missed seeing it on the big screen. Since it is considered to be such a relevant film even today, it has been re-released – and to promote it, Naseeruddin Shah, Satish Kaushik and Kundan Shah appeared on The Front Row with Anupama Chopra to discuss the film. In case you missed the episode tonight, here’s what Naseeruddin had to say about working on the film with talented comedy actors – be sure to catch the repeat telecast tomorrow morning for the full conversation.
Naseeruddin Shah: To tell you the truth, I was awed because I had these tremendously gifted comic actors all around. I had Ravi Baswani to deal with, I had Satish Shah, Satish Kaushik and Om Puri, who is a superb comic and nobody knew that before Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. I knew that this is not my forte. So I did not mistakenly try to match wits with these guys. The scene I love and which I greatly enjoyed doing was when we sing ‘Hum Hoge Kamyaab’ at the railway station at night. That was the only scene I felt was up my alley in this damned film (laughs)
