It was a beautiful Monday afternoon as I landed in Mumbai excited for my special showcasing at Kimaya and meeting so many old colleagues and friends from the city. I love Mumbai, and coming back to it after so long was like coming home with the sea-breeze hitting my face. As I took a u-turn to reach Kimaya, I saw the red carpet laid, the lights shimmering and my festive collection displayed in full grandeur on the window. My recent LFW collection was also around for the onlookers visiting the store for four days.

As I reached, Neha and Pradeep Hirani, old friends and owners of Kimaya were there to welcome and escort me in to the store. The store was looking spectacular with beautiful floral arrangements and island displays of my collection across the store.

The spirit of this year’s festive collection is intrinsically feminine, romantic yet flamboyant; the collection is about rich, artistic hand work modelled into contemporary silhouettes with subtle details of embroidery to augment the soft feminine appeal. From pastels to bright colors in fabrics like pure cotton and laces, chiffons for casual wear to light weight silk, crepes and brocade for the festive wear, the highlight of the collection is the intricate embroidery with an unconventional take.

There was media waiting to take my interviews and there I was sitting amongst them answering their queries and telling them about my collection and why I choose Kimaya as the destination for this special festive showcase.

People started to pour in to take a glimpse of my collection; some to buy, some to explore and some to just experience the ambience and participate in the evening revelry. Even after so many years I feel so proud when someone goes through my collection and compliments it.

The wine flowed, the fruit and cheese platter seemed to make the guests happy and I strolled around greeting the eclectic array of guests and clients of tinsel town who had come for this special showcase.

I was glad to meet celebrity choreographer Achla Sachdev with whom I have worked in the past. The beautiful Bhagyashree, who came along with her sister, was looking ravishing. Sheeba, Gargi Patel, Bally Sagoo were amongst the ones who visited the store. It was a pleasure to meet all my Mumbai friends after such a long time.

But the highlight of the day was the interaction with the clients; it makes me feel special when people take advice from me on style and dressing up on special occasions. It makes my passion worthwhile.

As the sun set and the dusk gave away to night, I thanked my gracious hosts Pradeep and Neha and left the store, heading home, taking with me beautiful memories of the evening…
