When you think about the much-talked-about ‘100 crore club’ phenomena that is the new benchmark of success in Bollywood, one name definitely sticks out – director Rohit Shetty, who has three 100-crore films to his name (Golmaal 3, Singham, and Bol Bachchan). While that is considered something to be proud of, you’ve got to wonder if it doesn’t come with some added pressure to deliver another hit with the next film. Tonight on a special Diwali episode of The Front Row with Anupama Chopra, Rohit is asked that very question. Hear what he has to say in our exclusive sneak peek:

Anupama Chopra: When people are looking at you and seeing numbers, are we not in an obsessive space?

Rohit Shetty: I do feel good about it. Six super hits, Three, 100 crores! Obviously you feel good, I am human after all. But at the same time, after Bol Bachchan, I realized from experience that it is too much of stress, you don’t enjoy your film, especially for me. Chennai Express will also come and I will be waiting ki 100 crore kab hogi? Because people will be asking me that. I have made a good film, or a bad film, or people are enjoying the film is okay, but if you go out and you are questioned whether it will happen or not, then what do you do? So there is a pressure and there is a lot of stress about that.

Anupama Chopra: Is it a positive pressure?

Rohit Shetty: It is, but you don’t enjoy. As an individual, you don’t enjoy it because you are waiting for that to happen. (Laughs) By the time Bol Bachchan reached 100 crore, I was shooting for Chennai Express!
