Vogue Anniversary
Vogue 5th Anniversary

If you bought the mammoth 5th Anniversary issue of Vogue India, you would have spotted a very beautiful and unusual editorial in its glossy pages. Fashion Features Director Bandana Tewari roped in some of the biggest names in the world of fashion, such as Tod’s, Alberta Ferretti, Gucci, Missoni, Roberto Cavalli and Roger Vivier to name a few to reinterpret some of India’s best textiles in Project Renaissance.

The results can be easily summed up in one word – mesmerizing. Kanchipuram silk adorns a Tod’s bag while Benarasi brocade becomes the fabric of choice for a Salvatore Ferragamo shoe which would look not out of place on the foot of some Maharani. But the kind folk at Vogue decided this special project shouldn’t be just limited to just the magazine. So off they went to a sleepy village, models in tow shooting against the backdrop of a traditional  weavers home. The reworked designs come to life in this special film.

Kudos to Vogue India for this initiative and keeping our rich textile heritage alive.
