Fact is, I hate running. These feet were meant for dancing, Baby! Dancing and nothing less. And to me, running has always been lesser than other kinds of things that my feet can do. (Unless I’m sprinting after someone who smeared cake on my face in the office canteen or chasing my dog around the house of course.) I hate Running. It’s also compounded by myths I’ve nurtured like, I will hurt my knees or beautiful parts of me will…*ahem*… sag!

Here’s another fact: I don’t really sweat. Not in the way that atheletes or physical labourers do, although I must admit that I find it (sweat) quite sexy.

Now what brings my dislike for running and my lust for sweat together? The Pinkathon 2012 and the more tangible, rather fit shape of Milind Soman 🙂 The man has been trying to tell me to run for quite some time now, I’m not sure why but finally around two weeks ago when he gave me a cause to be a Rebel, I thought, hey why not?

Now ten days later I can list a cartload of reasons as to why I should have said “No!”

Let me first list what my mornings have been like. Infused with an energy that comes out of somebody else’s belief in your abilities, I decided to be the mascot (or bali ka bakra) for The Pinkathon 2012 which is a 3km, 5km and 10km marathon us ladies will run on the 16th of Dec to raise awareness for breast cancer.

Day 1.

I have been summoned to meet Savio D’souza aka slave driver as he is known in and around the Jogging Track at Priyadarshini Park, where he drives the fit and not-so-fit into a running frenzy merely by saying, “Come on, come on, no stopping now”.

Savio takes a look at me and after some basic stretches tells me to, “Walk the straight and jog the curve”. That’s exactly what I do for the next hour or so.

Sore and semi-glowing (coz I don’t really sweat remember, no matter how much hard work I put in!) I come back to Savio who declares that I didn’t do so bad at all for Day 1. “You’ll do it Men”, he pronounced.

Milind seemed reassured as well which I’m sure is bad news because it means I won’t be able to convince him that I should do 3kms or less! To be continued…
