Akshay Tyagi is a young fashion designer who has launched his debut line called Double Decker. “It aims to capture the inexplicable joy of Mumbai’s interconnected eccentricities,” says Akshay.
The collection translates perspective into design, as an extension of his individual experiences in this bustling cacophony of honking cars and wailing vendors. Take a look at the eccentric, and fabulously quirky, designs Akshay has created exclusively for Mumbai, by Mumbai:

Marg Series: The collection is inspired from wooden, crates, roads, yellow traffic lines. The streets of Mumbai meander gracefully to support the chaotic convergence we are all too familiar with. The yellow boundaries that line our dusty roads host a vehicle variety that guides our individual journeys. This series cherishes a road less traveled, taking inspiration from the fading streaks painted on our streets to accommodate our ever growing population.

Khamba Series: The inspiration comes from intersecting lines, cross-connection, commutes, and car jacks. Mumbaikars often find themselves immersed in a self-imposed routine that consumes their daily lives. When this routine faces an abrupt halt, is when one appreciates the mundane instruments that offer support in the need to stay connected. This series observes the x-support structures, like the car jack and telecommunication towers, that help to stay on the move in the inevitable commute from one point to another.

Auto Series: Inspired by convergence, perspective, repition, the doors of perception. For a country embedded with varied trajectories, both physical and cerebral, Mumbai offers a fresh perspective to those seeking change. Acting as a central hub to this collective aspiration, many arrive in hopes of fulfilling their personalized vision. This series visualizes the beauty of convergence etched by every individual journey traversed within the framework of the city.

B.E.S.T Series: Inspired by building windows, bus windows. There is an ever increasing infrastructure populating the island of Mumbai. Ornate concrete jungles and vibrant double-deckers are embellished with permanent patterns on our urban landscape. A multitude of shapes frame our temporary glimpse of fleeting moments. This series inspired by windows, pays homage to the self-constructed windows into our lives.
We also love the Chowpatty Series, inspired by the beaches of Bombay:
