Day 1 of India Resort Fashion Week 2012 started off with a bang. Debutante designer Nidhi Munim showcased a bright cheery collection of swimwear and kaftans.
I have to admit this was one of the shows I was excited about after seeing the sneak peek on the site. The show kick-started with the ’90s song Hot! Hot! Hot! with models strutting out in tiny swimsuits.
Entitled Bay Area, the first half of the collection primarily used the colours such as orange, greys, turquoise. The tempo visibly set the mood, with models clearly having a ball on the runway. They strutted their stuff in malliots, string bikinis and cut away swimsuits. Posing, doing a little jig and pouting seemed the norm.
But Nidhi didn’t stay far from her Indian roots. After the colour blocked swimsuits, she sent down another batch of sexy little swimwear in delectable ikat prints.
Particularly loved the ombre cover ups that should make their way to your beach tote very soon. The neon accessories gave the collection a very youthful, playful vibe.
She kept the make-up simple with just a touch of neon pink lips and a high ponytail.
Munim sure seems to have a bright career ahead of her, don’t you think?
