There may be one day left at India Resort Fashion Week 2012, but I can easily say my favourite show was Asmita Marwah. The Hyderabad based designer brought out a resort line that was cohesive, fun, and definitely yummy.
Entitled Maya – the collection was aimed at the global free spirited traveller, heading to a sun soaked destination. It was an eclectic mix of free flowing tunics, breezy kaftans, and drop crotch pants in breathable easy fabrics such as linens and khadis.
Models strutted out sporting Lennon sunglasses & fedoras, and later in head wraps. The colour palette was earthy shades such as reds, rusts, mustards, and ochres. Some looks had the usage of gingham checks which were a personal favourite of mine.
From easy day wear, the line progressed into night wear – sheer pants with embellished details, tribal-esque mini skirts, and textured waistcoats all made an appearance. Adding sparkle to her collection, Asmita featured glitter strap sling bags and later sequinned gold dresses.
The hair and make-up was kept simple – poker straight locks and black graphic eyes.
