Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been keeping a low profile post her pregnancy and the birth of Aaradhya, but that hasn’t stopped the media glare from shining on her and her baby. So when she put in a rare appearance on The Front Row with Anupama Chopra, Anupama made sure to ask her what it was like handling all this attention. Read on for her answer!
Anupama Chopra: Is it tough to deal with all the attention that is there on you, your family and Aaradhya? I remember there were half hour television shows built around your first Karva Chauth. Do you manage to have a sense of humour about it?
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: You are talking about Karva Chauth but at the time of my marriage there were false stories about my father-in-law dragging me and getting me married to a tree. That was such a lot of humbug. It was so false. It was horrifying to see very responsible members of the society actually give their opinion very strongly in important editorial pieces in magazines and speaking very strongly about members of my family and actually saying, ‘What kind of examples are we setting?’ That is the unnerving part. The fact that there is an intellectual society who have met us and know exactly how we think, know our views and for a second actually chose to believe the story. Then comes the aspect of influence and the possibility of influencing the people out there who love us. We are so grateful for that and I wouldn’t want that to be out there for the wrong reasons. So that is where it becomes a concern.
