Ten years after winning their first Grand Slam (Austarlian Open and Wimbledon) together in 2003, Leander Paes and Martina Navratilova met in Mumbai share memories and what made them a winning pair on court (and great friends off it!)
Martina said “Leander and I are very similar as people, and so we have a similar style of playing.”
Leander has often spoken about how she’s taught him that age is just a number. That she played till she was 50 and won Grand Slams even at that age. She said that Lee could play for as long as he wanted, as long as it was something he enjoyed. She also said she enjoyed watching him play the Australian Open this year with Czech Radek, when they won she thought they made a lot of people back home very happy!
The two were seen having a drink at the hotel coffee shop and were joined by chess champion Vishy Anand just after.
