Fashion Police at the Umang 2013 Awards

Zina Tasreen
Akshay Kumar
Salman Khan

The star-studded Umang Police Awards 2013 on Saturday threw us some, erm, interesting fashion choices. Hop on to check out the good, the bad and the ugly of it 😉

The Ugly

Ranveer Singh
Ranveer Singh

For onstage performance or not, there just cannot be an excuse for inflicting this monstrosity on us. Ranveer Singh Bhavnani, the only way is the cold dungeon for you, by public demand, if you insist on clothing yourself like this.

Jacqueline Fernandez

Horrified MissMalini and I are after seeing this. The electricity must’ve gone off… the generator must’ve run out of diesel… the charge lights must’ve exhausted its battery… the candles must’ve become damp… or else, why would the usually well-dressed Jacqueline Fernandez show up in this, non?

The Bad

Farhan Akhtar

It pains me to put Farhan Akhtar here, it really does. Mate, what’s with the manky trousers and the shoddy velvet jacket? Burn. Right. Now.

Riteish & Genelia Deshmukh

How matchy-matchy are the Deshmukhs??? Not cute. Very soon they’ll morph into each other and we wouldn’t be able to tell them apart.

Shreyas Talpade (left), Sajid Khan & Ajay Devgn (right)

Shreyas Talpade was out for a jog and ran into the venue. While the Himmatwala duo need to be reminded that they are no longer in the 90s – who wears those faded denims anymore? And those are some seriously fugly shoes they’re sporting.

Shahid Kapoor

Soz Rashmi (and Shanatics), but that shiny shirt-trouser combo is unacceptable. Like the brogues, though 🙂

Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan, I appreciate your sentiments in wanting to look the part of a quintessential Bharatiya nari, I really do. But come on, not all your sari choices have to make you look like a proper aunty. You’re not old, the (sari) world is your oyster – take risks, have fun, play your age!

The Good

Priyanka Chopra & Mushtaq Sheikh

How gorgeous was Priyanka Chopra looking that night??? Totally heart that red full-length gown with the black embroidered bodice, and the thigh-high split added just the right amount of oomph to the demure gown. The updo, the vampy eyes, the minimal jewellery… this look was perfection head-to-toe!

Priyanka Chopra

I loved her onstage outfit, too! Simply gorgeous, the lehenga.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone was elegance personified in the black-white-gold Sabyasachi sari. Ms Balan, take note.

Sridevi & Boney Kapoor

Yet another stunning appearance in a Manish Malhotra sari from Sridevi it was. That lady’s divine!

Anjali Tendulkar (left) & Tabu (right)

Anjali Tendulkar and Tabu looked so classy in their salwar suits, non? I’m so lusting over Tabu’s Abu-Sandeep’s suit – yeah, looks like the design duo still got it!

Aishwarya Rai & Abhishek Bachchan

I’m not at all liking the dowdy decorated tent Sabyasachi anarkali on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, but am still putting these two in this section as they look oh-so-… ! Abhishek Bachchan’s looking mighty handsome, but it’s the immaculately-cut suit that has caught my eye. I love how the red of Aishwarya’s suit is playing off the black in Abhishek’s ensemble – Riteish & Genelia Deshmukh, this is how you sync sartorially.

Rohit Shetty (left), Rana Daggubati (center), Arjun Kapoor & Mushtaq Sheikh (right)

I’m putting Rohit Shetty, Rana Daggubati and Arjun Kapoor in here, only because they made the effort – nothing more or nothing less.

Shah Rukh Khan

How dashing is Shah Rukh Khan looking in his all-black three-piece suit? And extra points for the contrasting pocket square. Like a boss.

Anil Kapoor

And ladies & gentlemen, I present to you… The. Best. Dressed. Of. The. Night.
