The 2013 55th Annual Grammy Awards LIVE on Vh1 presented by NESCAFÉ Tune in: Feb 11th LIVE at 6:30am with a prime time repeat at 9pm.

It’s that time of the year again folks. Award season is upon is and the Grammys are up next! I thought I’d give you a quick crash course in who’s up for accolades with a blog series dedicated to the Grammys. If you love song trivia as much as I do (radio ke side effects!) then enjoy!

PS. Previous winners include some of my favorites, Adele‘s Rolling in the Deep, Kings of Leon‘s Use Somebody and Amy Winehouse‘s Rehab. xoxo

Lonely Boy

The Black Keys
Track from: El Camino

The music video features one Derrick T. Tuggle dancing to the song in the lobby of a motel. It’s in the same tradition of other seemingly improvised dancing clips as David Bowie and Mick Jagger‘s Dancing In The Street and Fatboy Slim‘s Praise You.

Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)

Kelly Clarkson
Track from: Stronger

The song was inspired from the Friedrich Nietzsche quotation, “That which does not kill us makes us stronger.”

We Are Young

Fun. Featuring Janelle Monáe
Track from: Some Nights

This was the most listened to song on Facebook in 2012. Runner-up was Gotye‘s Somebody That I Used To Know.

Somebody That I Used To Know

Gotye Featuring Kimbra
Track from: Making Mirrors

Gotye didn’t begin writing this song as a duet, but after he finished the first verse, he realized he had nowhere to go with the character he was writing about, and needed to introduce another voice. The Canadian indie band, Walk Off the Earth, recorded an unusual cover of the song. 5 people playing a single guitar which became a YouTube sensation.

Thinkin Bout You

Frank Ocean
Track from: Channel OrangeThe song finds Ocean pondering about his girl as he drives to see her after receiving a text message.

We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

Taylor Swift
Track from: Red

The video was shot in one continuous take with no edits and features Swift in five different outfits, which required some very quick costume changes by the singer! All her clothes were put together with Velcro and snaps so that she could have three different outfits layered on top of each other.

Personally I think Gayote’s got this one in the bag! For more join the Twitter conversation #GrammysWithVh1
