I have a bias towards clean cuts and sharp tailoring and Rajesh Pratap Singh completely nails it in this aspect and that’s what makes him stand out in the industry. Recently he was roped in by IndiGO Airlines to design a range of sleek uniforms for its pilots.

The pilots will now be outfitted in a navy blue bomber jacket worn on top of a crisp white shirt paired with trousers. Pratap drew his inspiration from the World War II Bomber jackets. He’s also kept the technical aspects in mind – using a higher cotton component for easy breathibility and low maintenance.

“This is a pioneering effort that has never been done before in keeping with the high standards that IndiGo has set since its inception six years ago. It has been a pleasure working with a super professional organization such as IndiGo.  We have tried to give our best keeping the requirements and the spirit of the airline in mind.” He added, “One thing I can say with experience – they really take their motto ‘On-Time is a Wonderful Thing’ seriously! I sincerely hope Team IndiGo enjoys their new uniform” says Rajesh.

It’s not new for top fashion designers to do this. In the early ’80s Dior did it for the Air France cabin crew while Pucci did it for the now defunct Braniff Airlines. I personally feel  that it’s great that an Indian aviation company has selected a designer from its own country.
