If there’s a jewellery designer that’s close to my heart it’s got to be Eina Ahluwalia. I fell in love with her idea of socially conscious jewellery when it first made it’s debut at Lakmé Fashion Week and you’ve seen me wearing those stunning 16th Century Saxon Knife Earrings in sterling silver from her b r e a t h i n g s p a c e collection. So obviously, when she told me about her new campaign I had to immediately blog about it, for you :)
For Valentine’s this year, Eina has come up with an initiative that promotes the idea of “respect” (as opposed to just love) for women. Respect her as a person, as a partner, as a friend. Because everyone knows without respect there is no love.
Especially in times like these where we’ve finally realised the need to “man up” and support our women this message is so very crucial.
We have to remind ourselves (and our boys) that violence against women is actually a man’s issue and we have to talk about it. I like the idea of wearing one of these pieces and when someone asks me about it, I can tell them why I care and maybe they will start to care too.
