While several of her contemporaries have previously done promotional songs for other films, Priyanka Chopra has generally steered clear of item numbers. That’s about to change though, as it’s now official – after a lot of back-and-forth – that she will be doing a song for the upcoming Shootout at Wadala! Of course, before she took the plunge, PC made sure that her number one condition was met – here’s why she decided to do the song.
Mirror claims that PC only agreed to do the song on the condition that it was done tastefully – i.e., no innuendos and no indecent dance moves. She was given the choice of three tracks, and she picked Babli Badmaash Hai, a somewhat retro song that is inspired by the likes of Zeenat Aman and Parveen Babi. The team is now working hard to get the styling right, and once that’s done, PC will shoot for the song over three days with director Sanjay Gupta keeping a close eye on everything.
Ekta Kapoor is already touting it as the “track of the year” so I guess the team is pretty confident that this song will turn out well, despite the fact that it will be devoid of the kind of lyrics/moves that one has almost come to associate with these types of songs. So the question is – do you think PC will make a better item girl than the likes who went before her: Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Malaika Arora Khan?
