Television’s Leading Ladies Are About to Get Spooky!

I’ve always felt like Ekta Kapoor knows exactly how to cater to both the movie-going audience and the television-watching one with films and serials that are vastly different from each other. For Ek Thi Daayan, though, she’s mixing the two to come up with a pretty unique promotional strategy. The team has conceptualized a television series called Ek Thi Nayika, which will feature 8 nayikas of the television industry in 16 different, spooky episodes based on the original film. These ladies came together to officially launch the show yesterday evening – spotted were Sakshi Tanwar, Aamna Sharif, Mauli Ganguly, Shweta Tiwari, Kritika Kamra and Pooja Gaur. Ekta was also present for the event along with co-producer Vishal Bhardwaj and Ek Thi Daayan leading lady Konkona Sen Sharma.

Television actresses Ankita Lokhande and Smriti Irani are also going to be a part of the show, though they were not present at the press conference. Emraan Hashmi will be playing host to these ladies on the television show.

Kritika Kamra

The series is said to be based on the daayan (witch) characters of the actual film, but there’s not much else known about the story. What we do know is that the actresses will be playing characters from the region they belong to – Sakshi will play a Rajasthani woman, Kritika will play a Punjabi kudi and Mauli will play a Bengali lady.
