Alia Bhatt is all set to appear in the film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat‘s 2 States, where she plays a character quite different from the glamorous, spoiled brat she enacted in Student of the Year. Being only her second film, we hear she’s going all out to ensure that she gets it exactly right – here’s what she’s been doing as preparations!
Alia plays a South Indian girl in the film, and her look is being modelled to suit the character. It’s going to be quite different from what we’ve seen of her in SOTY, but that look is still being kept under wraps. What we do know, though, is that she’s joined Bharatanatyam classes, and while she’s fond of dancing, this is one form that’s still completely new to her. Alia has also been learning to speak in Tamil so that she can get her accent just right for the film and sources say she’s giving it her all.
It’s going to be interesting to see how she carries this. Full marks to her for picking a different role and not getting stuck in a rut – she has the face for glamorous roles and it would’ve been almost too easy for her to be typecasted as that. I remember Kareena Kapoor went through something similar earlier on in her career after Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham; she was pretty much known as Poo around that time. Luckily she broke the mould with Chameli, and now it looks like Alia (who is already being compared to Kareena) is doing that as well. Here’s hoping it works out for her – what do you think?
