I know it’s been months since the release of the film, but Deepika Padukone‘s sassy, wild-child avatar from Cocktail is still amongst my favourite on-screen looks for any actress. Infact, DP seems to have made a conscious effort to mix things up a little when it comes to her on-screen looks, something that she is doing for 2013 as well. Here’s a glimpse of the kind of avatars you can expect from her this year!
Girl Next Door
DP plays the typical girl next door in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and will be seen wearing glasses on-screen for the first time! We’ve actually seen her sport this look during her public appearances a few times, but it’s the first time she’s donning a pair for a film. #GeekChic, we like!
Desi Girl
Deepika will be seen wearing mostly Indian-wear in Ram Leela, which she’s doing with Ranveer Singh. Designer/stylist Anju Modi earlier said that they had to keep the royal lineage of the Kutch region in mind while designing the clothes, but had to also ensure that they have a modern feel, since this is not a period film.

And then of course there’s the very hatke look for Chennai Express, where Deepika is sporting a shirt and lungi combo. *lol* Quite the departure for her, don’t you think? Interestingly, it was Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty‘s idea for her to sport this look – they were apparently losing light while doing a photoshoot and needed to get moving quickly, so SRK suddenly came up with the idea of making her wear a lungi. They decided to give it a modern twist, and thus, this look was created. She is apparently also wearing Shah Rukh’s shirt in this poster!
