Jaipur-based designer, Pallavi Jaipur, doesn’t look far for inspiration for her latest collection which she will debut at Lakme Fashion Week later this month. She talks a walk to the nearest bazaar and comes away with a head brimming with ideas that will translate into style savvy designs which she will showcase on the ramp.
Aptly called BUZZar, Pallavi’s collection evokes images of the busy shopping streets of Jaipur through her harmonious blend of colours, fabrics and playful embroideries which reveal the vastness and depth of Jaipur’s culture and heritage.
Each colour she has used is symbolic to the streets of Jaipur’s bazaar. While the famed Chameliwala market (famous for silverware in its most intricate forms) is reflected in the use of shades of silver to Ivory while Haldiyon ka Rasta is depicted in spicy shades of yellow. Even Johari Bazaar where one finds colourful bangles, is represented in fabulous meenakari and bead work on fascinating hues of orange, pinks and coral.
Says Pallavi, “The easiness and flow of the crowd is exemplified in the drapes and silhouettes whereas the aesthetics is depicted in the embellishments”.
Her show is on March 26th at 1.30pm, Grand Hyatt Hotel, Mumbai.
