Best known for the doodle prints which she debuted at Lakme Fashion Week last year – and then extended the popular line for India Resort Fashion Week – this time around for the Summer-Resort 2013 season of Lakme Fashion Week, Aartivijay Gupta shows you how India has grown as a nation via her postage stamp prints.

Postal stamps usually reflect the growth of a nation because they are always released to commemorate a milestone. Hence, Aarti has picked various Indian postage stamps from over the years and collated them into colourful prints.

“I have used a range of Indian Postal Stamps which feature the Indian animal (tiger), the first Indian aircraft, the first Indian coal train, India’s most loved leader Mahatma Gandhi, the first Indian space ship – everything that led to India’s growth,” she tells us.

But while her designs may be chic and prints, coveted, we can’t help comparing her fabric design to Greek designer Mary Katrantzou’s Spring 2013 collection, which is also inspired by stamps.
