Just after returning from the US, Salman Khan headed to Sanjay Dutt‘s Pali Hill residence to offer the actor comfort after it was announced that he would have to return to jail to serve a 3-and-a-half-year sentence. But interestingly, his trip to the actor’s house may mean more: after all, Salman himself is expected to appear before a sessions court today in relation with the 2002 hit-and-run case.
This dates back to September 28th, 2002, when Salman’s vehicle ran over people sleeping on a pavement, killing one and injuring four. In January 2013, the court handling Salman’s case accepted the prosecution’s plea to try the actor for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, which could carry a sentence of up to 10 years in jail (he was earlier being charged for rash driving, which attracts a maximum punishment of 2 years). In February, Salman filed a revision petition, pleading that some of the charges be dropped. He is expected to appear before court today, where the trial will start afresh.
