MTV VMAi: The Men’s Edition!

Zina Tasreen
Imran Khan and Vir Das

The MTV Video Music Awards India sure threw us some interesting sartorial choices, if anything! You’ve read about the ladies, now comes the men. Here’s the lot that caught our eye – for good or bad reasons 😉

The Ugly

Angad Bedi

Ooooh, we got the memo: it is Angad bhai from now on! The Salman Khan influence? This is simply unacceptable − for an awards show.

The Bad

Marc Robinson
Abhijeet Sawant

Okay, I do have zero tolerance for logo-flashing, but these two men didn’t really redeem themselves with the rest of their outfits.

Raj Kumar Yadav

Hello from 2013, Raj Kumar Yadav! It’s time to ditch the faded jeans – so 90s they are.

Amit Sadh

Oh Amit Sadh, did we pile on the pressure when we said you were under our style radar? Then, why did you over-think on this look? This is what you needed to do: opted for either one of the gingham shirt, scarf or pocket square; not co-ordinated the pants with the colour of the checks; and gotten rid of the black polo shirt underneath (it wasn’t that freezing, was it?). But, you get points for the immaculately tailored blazer and the monks.

Vir Das

Just too much blue on Vir Das. Like Amit Sadh, his outfit needed some editing.

Jackky Bhagnani

Soz Amu, but I’ve to put Jackky Bhagnani here.

The Good

Meiyang Chang

This is one quirky ensemble — and Meiyang Chang owned it.

Ayushmann Khurrana

Bless Ayushmann Khurrana, he seems to really like that watch of his, ‘cos this is the second time we’ve seen him match an item of clothing with the strap! Individually, I’m loving all the pieces, but, for some reason, Ayushmann looks sloppy.

Kunaal Roy Kapur

If you can’t take risks at a music event, then when can you? This idiosyncratic get-up of Kunaal Roy Kapur, whether it was by fluke or not, was smashing!

The Beaut

Imran Khan

Is there any argument?

Imran Khan and Vir Das

While there’s nothing wrong with the tailoring, I do wish the jacket was cut shorter, like Vir Das’s. The reason being, he took a fashion-forward stride with that pink hue, why not back it up with some trendy tailoring? And oh, special mention about those spectator/co-respondent shoes… This is as rakish as it gets.
