After three days of festivities and excitement including airport arrivals, the Musical Extravaganza, and Technical Awards, the Bollywood fraternity made their way to BC Place Stadium for first annual Times of India Film Awards last night. The evening was well received with performances by Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, and Shah Rukh Khan; hosting by Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma; and plenty of cheesy one-liners. The big winners of the night included both Ranbir and Priyanka in the Best Actor and Actress categories for Barfi, which also took home the TOIFA for Best Film. Other notables were; Critics Award for Best Film – Gangs of Wasseypur, Best Lyrics, Gulzar – Saans (Jab Tak Hain Jaan), and Best Actor in Negative Role – Rishi Kapoor (Agneepath).
The show was huge, but my eyes were on the outfits. Ruling the red carpet were Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Neha Dhupia in Sabysachi, and Sabyasachi Couture respectively. Hands down the best dressed ladies of the night.
I’m not a fan of Gauri Khan’s red dress on the red carpet look, and SRK’s jacket is also not doing him any favours. (Gauri is in Tarun Tahiliani.)
Also walking the red carpet were Priyanka in Arpan Vohra, Nargis Fahkri in Komal Sood, and Anushka in a Dior suit, which I didn’t really think had enough pop for the red carpet or the stage.
Well the TOIFAs have been handed out and the stars are headed home, but I have a few more exclusives up my sleeve for MissMalini readers and will be back!Pix: Gurk Bains
