The latest episode of The Colbert Report was a special broadcast from Washington University in St. Loius. Former United States President Bill Clinton discussed a range of issues with Stephen Colbert as part of his Clinton Global Initiative University, which brings together students and thought leaders to discuss potential solutions to global problems.

Colbert took the liberty of opening a twitter account for President Clinton, and cornered him into sending his first tweet right from the stage. Apparently @PresidentClinton and @WilliamJeffersonClinton were taken, so Colbert reserved the handle @PrezBillyJeff.

Read on to see Bill Clinton’s first tweet, and watch the hilarious exchange with Colbert.

First tweet from @PrezBillyJeff – “Just spent amazing time with Colbert! Is he sane? He is cool! #cgiu”

Not exactly poetry, but the account has almost 70,000 followers in less than two days. I think he should use it. Who cares about the informality of the handle? I guarantee he’d have a million followers in a week if he started tweeting daily. President Obama has 30 million followers, and he’s not nearly as popular as Clinton.

Besides, maybe the name will urge him to get his sax skills back to public appearance proficiency.
