Singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthi called upon her Bollywood friends to come and check out her new venture in Juhu, Mumbai – a designer candle store called The Candlelight Company.
Says Suchitra, “Being an artist who is keen to experiment with various art forms and materials I started playing with wax and making candles initially as a hobby, purely for their aesthetic and spiritual appeal. For myself to light in my home every single day and also to gift to my friends and family. Over the years, having also developed a keen interest in natural sciences as a holistic alternative to alopathic medicine to combat stress and the wear and tear of everyday life, I started to experiment and research candle making and aromatherapy.
Hooked onto the miraculous healing properties of essential oils and their power to alter moods and emotions and promote well-being I headed to the Candle Academy & Mollinard and Gallimard perfumeries in France and Plush Folly in England to further my skills and knowledge.
I have learnt so much in my travels. Most of all I have learnt that a candle is not just an object of beauty and light. It is also a tool of divination and well-being.”
