Now here’s some major fashion news! Christian Lacroix is all set to design a capsule couture collection for the brand Schiaparelli.

The label Schiaperelli has been defunct since 1954. It wasn’t till recently that Tod’s honcho Diego Della Valle bought the trademark and announced of plans to revive the iconic label.

After the dismissal of John Galliano from Dior there were murmurs that he would soon take over the reigns – but they were quickly shot down. Finally, late yesterday evening the news was announced that Lacroix would design a special collection for the brand.

For the uninitiated, Lacroix is one of the definitive designers of Haute Couture. His collections were mesmerizing and were always looked forward to by fashion editors. Unfortunately, his eponymous label filed for bankruptcy in 2009. Check out some of his recent works.

I’m extremely thrilled with the very thought of Lacroix returning to the ramp. This promises to be probably the biggest event in the fashion calendar.
