Like I said Debenhams at Market City Kurla is offering FREE bra fitting sessions for all you lovely ladies and from May 2nd to 5th super special discounts too! I popped in today to check it out and got the skinny on the 5 types bra’s every girl needs in her wardrobe, so listen up!
First, it is crucial that you’re wearing the right size bra! The staff at Debenhams can help you figure that out with a simple tape measure and loads of know-how. But basically keep in mind:
1.) The shoulder straps should never be digging into your skin.
2.) Your skin should never be bulging from the sides of your cups.
3.) If your measurement is an odd number try bras in both the size below and the size above (ex, if you measured 31 inches (78.7cm), your band size could be 30 or 32.)
4.) For every band size you drop, you will need to increase the cups by one size. For example, if you are currently wearing a 34D bra, and you measure 28 inches, you should probably wear a 28F.
5.) The elastic on your bra WILL stretch so plan ahead and get a size that’s comfy but snug so you can still wear it after a few washes!
I think it’s SO important to have a variety of inners for every outfit. Here’s a crash course in what you need for what you wear…
A practical design that doesn’t use underwire for support and can be heaps more comfy. Great for everyday use!
I think these are my fave because they are so comfy and flattering at the same time. This bra lifts you up to enhance appearance, shape, and cleavage. The name means ‘little balcony’ and comes from the notion that the bra is not visible from above, as when looking down from a balcony!
This design relies on an extra-wide band for support and achieves its strength through a longer underwire, added padding, boning, and shaping panels. Best suited for bare-shoulder garments like a strapless evening gown that exposes the shoulders and chest.
Designed without raised seams, hooks, or other construction that can be seen under your cutest tees. A contoured style that fits smoothly under tightly fitting tees, sweaters and light-weight knitted fabric, or clingy tops with minimal visibility.
I love that Debenhams has them in so many styles and colors, like this stretch t-shirt bra in metallic grey is just darling!
This bra allows for lower and increased cleavage. Designed with angled cups and an open and lowered centre gore. The shoulder straps are set widely apart. Suitable for dresses or outfits with a deep décolleté or plunging neckline, like a blouse or dress. Unlike push-up bras, these are not as heavily padded.
Psst! My favorite little inside secret are these little silicon stickies for when you’re wearing a super hot barely there dress and don’t want to flash a lot of bra or even those clear (but often unsightly) bra straps. This btw is also the #1 secret saver most celebrities swear and they’re only for Rs. 495!
