Probably taking a cue from Sonam Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, both of whom supported charities on their previous birthdays, and asked fans to donate to their causes instead of sending them gifts, Zareen Khan too has gone the goodwill way for her birthday (14th May), this year.
Zareen has been working closely with an organisation called Akshara that is dedicated to educating girls and this year, Zareen has taken to a social networking site to ask her fans to donate money to this cause. She has set a goal and has asked her fans to donate money to help her raise the funds. She has also promised to spend some time on her birthday with a few fans that help these girls dreams come true.
According to information on their website, the “Akshara Foundation is a Bangalore-based Public Charitable Trust with the mission to ensure that every child is in school and learning well. Established in the year 2000, Akshara Foundation has a range of programmes that provide multiple solutions for universalizing elementary education.”
Last year on her birthday, Sonam Kapoor supported the cause of Breast Cancer Awareness while Priyanka Chopra supported the cause of clean water.
It’s nice to see the Bollywood girls give-back to society by helping social causes. Kudos to them.
