Now we all know Aamir Khan is considered to be somewhat of a Bollywood marketing genius, but now word has it that Kiran Rao is taking a very keen interest in the marketing of her upcoming film as well. The first film, Ship of Theseus, from her new banner, will be releasing on July 19th and Kiran has made a bold decision in regards to promotion of the film.
Kiran, who thinks the digital medium is the way forward, has apparently decided not to showcase any promotions at all on television. She will be pumping the marketing budget into an online campaign instead, so even all paid promotions will appear online instead of on TV. We’re told that she strongly believes one does not need to advertise on television in order to capture the attention of the “intelligent” audience, and is therefore spending an equal amount for digital promotions as one would’ve spent for TV promotions.
Well, guess we’ll have to wait and see how effective is once the campaign begins!
