With Anurag Kashyap’s Ugly being screened at the Cannes Film Festival (and having got a standing ovation), there has been a slight confusion about the lead actor – Rahul Bhat.
Many thought the film starred Rahul Bhatt, director Mahesh Bhatt’s son, who was embroiled in a controversy a few years ago for unknowingly befriending a terrorist. However, the difference is in the letter “T”.
While the Rahul who stars in Ugly spells his surname as Bhat (with a single T), Mahesh Bhatt’s son spells his with a double T.
The Rahul Bhat from Ugly made his debut in 1997 in Boogie Woogie and went on to act act in the famous TV serial Heena. He has also acted in films like Nayee Padosan and Yeh Mohabbat Hain.
