5 Reasons To Visit the Vintage Garden

The set up at The Vintage Garden

The two pictures (above) taken at The Vintage Garden got A LOT of comments and here’s what you can expect from this unique shopping space. The pop-up market curated by Aarti Patkar is set in a 1920’s colonial style bungalow in Bandra. The space has a warm flea-market vibe and hosts a number of talented designers and labels that offer clothes, antique furniture, accessories and home-decor pieces. I visited the first event and simply had to share it with MissMalini and you guys. Here’s why you should try and visit The Vintage Garden.

Plenty of comfy chic clothing and accessories to choose from…

Come on… retail therapy is a real thing! Now what if I told you that Aarti has particularly chosen a set of designers and labels that not only do some pretty chic clothing but they are perfect for day time dressing. In addition, some of the labels are high on organic fabrics while being in tune with current trends. And the fun doesn’t stop there! Keep looking around to find fun and quirky accessories. In fact, the first event at The Vintage Garden had accessories by Suhani Pittie and Table Wear by Shahid Datawala, which caught the fancy of the ‘IT’ crowd!

You can get your hands on some antique goodies

Antique chest with living room set
Hand-painted Gramophone
Lots of fun handcrafted bags, purses and satchels

After all, the venue is called The Vintage Garden, so obviously antiques find their spot here. Be sure to look for some hand-painted home decor pieces, and other handcrafted items. Aarti comes from a family that adores vintage arts and crafts. So, you can be assured that the hostess has carefully selected the brands and products available at the space.

A bank of great gift ideas.

Gift Idea up for grabs!!!
Organic and quirky cushions make great house-warming presents
Office and home accessories are fun thing great functional gift for friends

You just may have found a solution to your gifting problems. Hidden in the ‘garden’ are little gems waiting to be gift wrapped. Choose from the garments, accessories, handicraft home decor art and antiques or little fun knick-knacks. There is a lot that can be turned into a thoughtful gift for that special someone or yourself too!

Tip: Even if you don’t have to gift anyone anything yet… buy it and save it in a gift bank! You know at some point you will ask that dreaded question, “What do I get her?!!”

Enjoy the flea market charm

Uncluttered placement of stalls
Where else would you find fabric covers writing pads!
Look! Clothes on a line.

Where, in Mumbai, can you get a chic flea market vibe that is filled with beautiful people having a swell day out?!! Aarti personally, thought out the setting in her own backyard to look like a flea market. As the opening image of this post shows, there will be drapes to shelter shoppers from the heat, little whimsical lanterns hanging above you. Even the placement of all the stalls and vendors is  non-cluttered and maintains the rustic charm of that bungalow… As a joke, I told Aarti that she should have a guy selling dry grounded Middle-Eastern spices, just like in Sex And The City, when Carrie unexpectedly meets Aiden.

The Vintage Garden would make a great excuse to hang out with friends

The Vintage Garden

The coolest part about The Vintage Garden is that it is set up in The Patkar family’s backyard. Even if the reasons above don’t have you stoked, your friends will love it! So while they shop, you can help yourself to a cool refreshing coconut and sit below the shade of a tree, just soaking in the environment. And that my friend, will definately bring a smile to your face!

The Vintage Garden will be opening their gates again on the 31st of May & 1st of June at The Patkar Bungalow, 34D, turner Road, Bandra West, Mumbai 400050. The venue with showcase works from Item Number, Funk For Hire, Mayank & Shraddha, A.K.A. Bespoke, Ek Karkhana by Preeti Wanchoo, Sneka Arora, Valliyan by Nitya Arora, NorBlack NorWhite and many more fun stuff. Exciting!
