Vidyut Jammwal Goes to the Fantastic Fest

Actor Vidyut Jammwal is going places (literally) post the success of his film, Commando, in which he redefined the action genre in Bollywood cinema. The latest news is that Commando has been selected and invited to one of the biggest US based sci-fi and action film festival – Fantastic Fest – which will be held in Texas in September this year.

According to a media statement, “Vidyut’s action showcase in Commando and the strength of the stunt design for the film managed to stir up a lot of attention amid the international media. They were all talking about how India has found it’s Gen Next action hero, who’s abilities and vision in action surpasses all of his contemporaries. Vidyut put Kalaripayattu – the mother of all martial arts forms on the global map. Owing to Vidyut and the impact of his superlative action seen in India and internationally, the film fest, in addition to screening the film, has invited Vidyut to perform an entire act focused around him and action where he will represent India with his martial art form, Kalaripayattu.

For the record, Fantastic Fest is the largest genre film festival in the U.S.which specializes in horror, fantasy, sci-fi, action and just plain fantastic movies from all around the world. Among those who have attended the fest in the past include Mel Gibson, Bill Murray, Dolph Lundgren, Paul Rudd, Bill Pullman and Jon Favreau.
