Office Essentials

I’m lucky to work in an environment where it flies to wear jeans on a daily basis. But alas, some of you are not as lucky, and in many offices all you’ll see it black, black and more black in the form of pants, jackets and blouses. If you want to spice it up a bit in the office, I’ve put together a list of 5 must-have items for your wardrobe. Consider these your building blocks for a fashionable, professional wardrobe!

1) The Pencil Skirt:

A pencil skirt is widely accepted in the workplace, but instead of opting for boring black play around with different colours, prints and fabrics. Try a floral or houndstooth print, and pair with neutral tops so that you still look corporate.

2) The Blazer

The blazer is my go-to choice for looking polished. Instead of pairing it with your regular skinny fit pants, why not throw it on top of a dress?! Not only will you sport a fresh take on your dress but you can easily ditch the jacket for any post-work outings. Score!

3) The Silky Blouse

Firstly, never, and I mean NEVER, wear a transparent or translucent blouse to the office – it’s just not professional. Ensure that your have proper lining, and try out some jewel tones or details, such as ruffles.

4) Chiffon Scarf

The chiffon scarf is not just for air-hostesses to sport! It can also be the single accessory to pep up your all black ensembles, and highlight your individuality. You can tie it to the straps of your bag, or check this post out for more creative ways to drape your scarf.

5) The Chunky Heel

Whether you’re on your feet all day, or running through and fro for meetings, swap those pencil heels for chunkier ones. Not only are they in vogue right now, but they’re also oh so comfy. I’m lusting after these Chloé ones!
