Well, this is one film that’s taking a long time to get off the ground. The Hindi remake of Tamil film Vettai was supposed to originally happen with Shahid Kapoor and R Madhavan, but that got shelved for some time. Then, work started on the project once again with John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan, and Abbas-Mustan as the directors. However, it seems that things have come to a standstill yet again.

Word has it that Abhishek has opted out of the project citing date issues. The film was supposed to go on floors earlier this year, but things got pushed back due to script issues. Since shooting still hadn’t begun for this film, Junior B apparently had to meet with the directors and tell them he won’t be able to do it. They parted on a good note, though, as the directors understood his issues.

So what is he working on? TOI reports that Mani Ratnam has been in touch with him for a project (they had previously worked on Raavan), as is Umesh Shukla, the director of OMG Oh My God. We’ll have to wait to see if these materialize, but for now it seems that Vettai is not happening. Guess we’ll have to wait for Dostana 2 to see Abhi-John back in action!
