On a recent episode of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, actor and singer Dhanush, sported a snazzy bandhgala waistcoat by designer Raghavendra Rathore.
The bandhgala (which literally means, closed neck), was popularized in India by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and has even been sported in the 60’s and 70’s by The Beatles and Mick Jagger. And because it was Nehru’s uniform of choice, it was called the Nehru Jacket.
Now, Bollywood seems to have taken a shine to the bandhgala style waistcoat and Nehru jacket.
