Fans of AR Rahman are in for a treat with the announcement of his India tour – called, Rahmanishq – which kicks off in October 2013.
In a bid to reach out to his fans in smaller cities, the tour will cover Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur and Ahmedabad. At the press conference Rahman expressed, “We generally think of concerts in bigger cities of Mumbai or Delhi but I wanted to go to cities one normally doesn’t think of. My idea is to meet fans in these cities.”
A number of singers like Javed Ali, Neeti Mohan, Shweta Pandit and Harshdeep Kaur will also be performing with Rahman on the tour.
AR Rahman states, “Music for me is an expression of unconditional and unlimited love. I find joy in the smallest of pleasures which I share with the world through my music. This tour is a gesture of the love I have for my fans in India. I want to closely interact with my fans while we celebrate my music at the tour. We are a great prosperous musical nation and tours like these are a great way to rekindle the connect with the audiences on a more personalized level. Music is the language of the souls and what cannot be put into words can be expressed through music. I would like to take this opportunity to give back to my fans what they gave me. We hope that this will mark a new beginning for many more such tours that will benchmark the music industry.”
