Apparently, director Abhinav Kashyap had mentioned to Ranbir that they needed to cast a senior actor to play the role of a cop in the film. Ranbir simply commented at that time that his father had never played the role of a police officer in all 40-plus years of his career. That obviously got everyone’s attention, and soon Rishi Kapoor was on-board, completing the Kapoor khandaan trifecta.
Abhinav Kashyap says:
“I am excited to have all three of them in my film. I didn’t know that Rishiji had never played a cop in his entire career. I was so excited to have Rishiji and Neetuji play cops for the first time.”
