You ever watch a film and love a character so much that you wish you could hang out with them all the time? That has happened to me quite often – I love a well-fleshed out character! – so in celebration of Friendship Day, I thought I’d share with you seven movie characters that I’d love to be BFFs with.

1. Prem from Maine Pyar Kiya

Anyone who lives by the philosophy “dosti ki hai, nibani toh padegi” can totally be my BFF. (I just hope he doesn’t expect me to wear the ‘Friend’ hat in public or send him messages via pigeon post.)

2. Rahul from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Alright, confession: I have never in my life received – or given – a friendship band. I feel like that’s one major part of my childhood that is missing, but Mr College Stud here is totally into the idea of giving out friendship bands (we’ll just need to work on his name-recalling abilities). Plus, he believes that “pyar dosti hai,” and I mean, that’s a concept I could totally get down with. I’d also be cool with the idea of him randomly showing up at my window with chocolates and roses. Uh… only in the name of friendship, of course. *shifty eyes*

3. Geet from Jab We Met

Could you even imagine having this one around? I feel like I would never get bored, ever. She can talk a mile a minute and has commentary to pass on just about everything. I swear I could just take her out for a day of people-watching and I’d never need any form of entertainment ever again.

4. Mr India from Mr India

We’ve all wished we could be BFFs with a superhero at some point, and Mr India is my superhero of choice. Not only is he an all-around good guy and just person, but he also has superpowers that he can actually share (which is a whole new level of superhero badassery right there). Let’s just say, I’d be totally okay with borrowing that watch once in a while…

5. Circuit from Munnabhai/Lage Raho Munnabhai

As far as loyal sidekicks go, Circuit is the best. He’ll do anything for you – pretend to hallucinate just so you don’t think you’re going insane, bring you dead bodies at your request, help you cheat on your exams, totally cover for you in front of your parents (even if means constructing an elaborate set-up of a doctor’s office)… the list goes on. There’s no request he won’t try to fulfill, and for this alone, he’d be one of the best people to have by your side throughout life.

6. Aisha from Wake Up Sid

Oooh, the discussions we’d have on books! I can already imagine them. Aisha is the kind of girl you’d need around when life is out of whack and you just want someone calm and level-headed to spend some time with. Plus, as a side benefit, you’d get to hang out with Sid when you want, and that guy really knows how to lighten the mood. (Really, though, I think I’d just end up popping into Aisha’s office very regularly, just so that I could run into her hot boss, Rahul Khanna Kabir Chaudhary.)

7. Veronica from Cocktail

Sure, she has her own set of issues, but deep down, she’s got a good heart – evidenced by the fact that she takes Meera in when she hardly knows her. I really liked Veronica as a character, because she’s got her flaws and hang-ups just like the rest of us. Plus, she sure knows how to have a good time – she’d be the best person to go partying with, and she’s willing to share her clothes. Not that I’d fit into any of it, anyway… I think I’d just steal all her red lipsticks, which is a friendship perk as important as any other.
