M.A.C. Temperature Rising Make-Up Session
M.A.C. Temperature Rising Make-Up Session

It’s not every day that a girl gets a chance to have her make-up done by Mickey Contractor, so when we got an invitation from M.A.C to try out their new Temperature Rising collection, you better believe that I jumped at the opportunity. Temperature Rising has only just launched in stores in India, and is a summer collection that “captures the steamy nocturnal scene.” Think bronze and vivid hues – this is a very bold collection, and their special packaging reflects that!

So to lay all my cards down on the table, I’m starting off with a ‘Before’ picture. I don’t have a stitch of make-up on in this picture (no concealer, waaah) and it’s pretty nerve-wracking to be putting it up… but ah well, taking one for the team – it gives you an idea of the transformation.

Prep

First, Mickey started off by using the M.A.C Fix + spray (which is fantastic and which I want now) to prep my skin. Then he moisturised, applied concealer to my spots and under-eye circles, then set it all with the M.A.C translucent powder. And then he began working on my eyes!

Eyes

Highlighter
Highlighter

First, he used the Power Chrome eye pencil in shade Rich Glance as a brow highlighter. Rich Glance is a sparkly champagne, so it works ideally as a highlighter for Indian skin tones. Mickey says that once you blend it, it sits well and is almost water resistant.

Next up, he used another shade of the Power Chrome eye pencil – this time, Copper Strip. He applied this over my entire lid and blended well. I think this would be my favourite product from the Temperature Rising collection – I’m a big sucker for “convenient” make-up like this, and it really is a product that you can carry with you and apply quickly. Plus, it goes really well with our skin tone, so it can be worn both during the day and the night, depending on how you build it up.

He also used the ‘Bare My Soul’ eyeshadow quad in the shade Friendly (the bottom right one), which is a very deep, chocolate colour. Mickey used Friendly only on my outer eyes to give it some depth.

And then he applied eyeliner in a fluid line over my top lids and waterline (I teared up lots and he very patiently waited for me to regain my composure. I wish I could pass it off as “I’m crying because I’m so happy you’re doing my make-up!” but alas, I think he would’ve seen right through me). He finished it off by curling my lashes and applying mascara.

Lips

Mickey started things off by lining my lips with one of M.A.C’s plum lipliners. I have a fairly thin upper lip, so in order to create the illusion of a fuller one, he lined just outside my natural lip line.

He then used Sheer Seduction, which is a glittery bronze lipstick with a dazzle finish. It was quite a change for me because I have never worn a sparkly lip shade (I occasionally wear gloss, but mostly I gravitate towards matte lip colours). It fits in with the line perfectly, though, because it has a very summery feel to it. Mickey topped it off with the ‘Underdressed’ lipglass, which I think is the gloss version of Sheer Seduction. Underdressed is mega glittery and has both gold and magenta glitter.

Cheeks

Finally, to finish it all off, Mickey used the ‘Ripe for Love’ powder blush from the Temperature Rising collection. I find it very difficult to pick a blush shade for me, but I really liked this one. It’s a pinky peach with a satin finish, and really gives a natural glow to the cheeks (but it also seems to be very pigmented, so I would say be careful while applying).

Aaand for the end result…

Mickey called me a “glam doll” and let’s just say, when Mickey Contractor calls you a glam doll, you definitely take that compliment and roll with it (no arguments from me, nuh-uh, none at all). I wore this make-up the whole day, and at night I touched it up only by applying some more of the Copper Strip pencil to my eyes (told you I loved it). Then I went out, because when Mickey Contractor does your make-up, you sure as hell go celebrate (also it was my birthday eve, but that was just a happy coincidence):
