Pink Planet
Pink Planet

And then obviously everyone I know Facebooked me about it 🙂 So I’m claiming it! Can you believe the rather mundanely named GJ 504b planet glows a brilliant magenta? #Love Why? Apparently the stunning colour is due in large part to its relatively fresh formation. I think this is definitely a sign.

This amazing planet is creating a whole lot of excitement among astronomers as it is about 4.5 billion miles away from its star which is the same as 43.5 times the distance between the sun and the earth!

FYI the pink planet is 4 times the mass of Jupiter. GJ 504b orbits its star at a distance nearly nine times the distance Jupiter orbits our sun.

This is obviously an artist’s rendition but I think it’s beautiful, don’t you?
