Bhaag Milkha Bhaag received a tax-free status earlier, and now it looks like Madras Cafe may be headed down the same route. Considering that the film has social relevance and describes important incidents in the history of India, the makers have felt that it would be worth their while to speak to the relevant authorities about getting the tax-free status for their film.

Apparently, they are working on a case study and will be submitting it to authorities in different states. They are first approaching those in Maharashtra and Delhi, and, over time, will approach others as well. John himself says that he has been advised to do this, and is hoping that things work out for them.

Meanwhile, he continues with promotions for the film. Most recently, he met with Maninderjeet Singh Bitta, the chairman of the All-India Anti-Terrorist Front. Have a look at pictures:
