Sporting a spiky Wolverine hairstyle, and a black suit splashed with gold zardozi on the jacket, actor Randeep Hooda had every lady’s attention as he sauntered down the ramp for designer Rajat Tangri.
Rajat’s collection was inspired by the Gothic, Byzantine and Baroque eras. For the men we saw sharply cut suits with embroidered lapels, sedate masculine overcoats, gold shimmering pants, and a dazzling red three piece double breasted suit.
For women, Rajat presented a seductive line of well finished jackets, stylish separates, sophisticated diaphanous gowns, and elegant dresses. The Gothic embellishments were like traditional zardosi, in textured antique gold.
Here’s what Rajat and Randeep had to say about the collection:
Team MissMalini: Tell us about your collection for Lakme Fashion Week.
Rajat Tangri: The collection is called Dark Ages. It’s inspired by and has got an amalgamation of Gothic and Baroque influences. I’ve used basic Indian zardozi embroidery and I’ve given it a twist in terms of the techniques I have used.
I chose Randeep to be my showstopper because he is one of those few interesting people who can carry everything off, like really edgy things off. A lot of people might get scared to wear an outfit like what he wore for me on the ramp. But I think he carried it off beautifully. He’s got this certain sense of style about him. He’s got this hotness. So I always choose him to model my interesting and different stuff.
Team MM: What do you like about Rajat’s collection?
Randeep Hooda: I think there is something within me that lends its self very easily to wear his clothes and even this Wolverine style hair, styled by Perry Patel. He just heard that the theme was Gothic and he decided to give me the Wolverine look which went very well with Rajat’s theme.
I think Rajat’s style is very cutting-edge with nothing soft about it – which is very important for evening wear because you want to stand out and have an edge over other people.
I walked for him two years ago for his Renaissance collection which was very different to this and I feel that his cuts, his style, has become more simplistic and more cutting-edge, which I like a lot.
Team MM: Any message for your fans on MissMalini?
Randeep Hooda: Yes! To all my fans on MissMalini, my next movie – John Day – is releasing on 13th of September so please go see it.
