The madness of Lakme Fashion Week has come to an end, and what a week it was! After attending a whirlwind 8 shows over 5 days, and seeing the incredible talent that India has to offer, I realized that as a nation we are becoming a fashion power house!

I went to see Payal Singhal, Nikhil Thampi, Nishka Lulla, Sailex, Ken Ferns, Nupur Kanoi, Dhruv Kapur, Amit Aggarwal and Rocky S. LFW is a great opportunity to support all these designers who help and dress us year round for all the events, movie premiers, TV shows, appearances, etc.

It is great to cheer the designers on, and see all the effort that they put into not only their collection, but the entire show. From the theme, to the music, to the hair & makeup; it’s amazing what goes into bringing their ideas to life.

It really astonishing to see how much the Indian fashion scene has changed in the last few years, and the newer designers are making waves with their vision, and their approach to fashion in general.

While influences from the West are clearly evident in most collections, it’s great to see that many designers have keep the Indian touch.

Sailexx

I love how Sailex was able to make a lengha look so chic, and his bold colour palette was a surprising change from the earthy tones that we usually expect from him! Equally awesome was Payal Singhal’s signature boho take on a patiala suit, and her fabulous use of prints.

Nupur Kanoi

Nupur Kanoi with her amazing lines and silhouettes, can make any woman feel fabulous, and I could wear Nishka Lulla’s gorgeous colour palette and minimalist pieces everyday!

Dhruv Kapur debuting at MSA, went for his signature black look, which on the runway was chic and powerful. And Rocky S managed to make his favourite colour palette look edgy and beautiful at the same time!

Nikhil Thampi

Both Nikhil Thampi and Amit Aggarwal’s striking collections of gowns and saris were powerful, and oh so appealing.

Ken Ferns was also at the MSA for the first time with a beautiful ethereal collection, so much so that it brought tears to his eyes. I just love being there in person for special moments like that!

It means so much to dedicate these 5 days to our friends, who put so much into each collection, while we watch a quick 10 minute show. We sometimes forget that months of hard work and effort goes into putting together a fabulous show, and though it was exhausting attending 8 shows in 3 days, I am always ready to support and cheer on these amazing designers!
