While Africa (and African prints) have served as inspiration to many desi and international designers over the past, Pia Pauro manages to infuse her summer 2014 collection – called Zanzibar – with a much needed modern twist.

Having debuted the line at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, Pia took inspiration for this collection while on a trip to Tanzania. Hence, she showed a wide range of silhouettes that have a marked resort style vibe.

From fringed dresses to giraffe prints and sun dresses to safari style jumpsuits, Pia’s Zanzibar collection would not be out of place on a Saharan adventure.

Inspired by African tribal women, Pia has incorporated feather motifs in her embroidery. Her vibrant  prints are inspired from 1950’s Africa. Zulu and Masai masks also find pride of place on dresses in the form of embroidery.
