She made her debut in Zoya Akhtar‘s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. She played a cameo role in the movie as Kalki Koechlin‘s sister.
Now, actress Anisa bags a meatier, full-length role in Baat Bann Gayi. The film also stars Ali Fazal, Gulshan Grover and Amrita Raichand.
In an exclusive chat with Team MissMalini, Anisa tells us about her Bollywood journey and what it was like to work on Baat Bann Gayi.
Here are some highlights from the interview:
Team MissMalini: Tell us about your Bollywood journey.
Anisa: My debut has been kind of a crazy one. I’ve just made my debut in a lead role in Baat Bann Gayi. I’ve done a lot of theatre and a lot of ads. I’ve even done a cameo in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
I’m actually born and brought up in London and I’ve come to Mumbai to pursue my dream and it’s beautiful that I’m living my dream. I’m very happy to be here.
Team MM: What was your role in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara?
Anisa: In Zindagi, I was playing Kalki’s sister. Zoya Akhtar asked me to do this film because Kalki and I look similar.
Team MM: What is your role in Baat Bann Gayi?
Anisa: BBG is a completely family film. The whole family can go and watch it. My character is a fun loving, vivacious girl next door who is very much in love with Ali Fazal’s character, Kabir. She’s torn between making her family happy and being with this guy whom she loves. Needless to add, she gets stuck in a lot of confusion.
Team MM: What was it like to work with Ali Fazal and Gulshan Grover?
Anisa: I’m actually a fan of Ali’s. I’ve seen him in plays and in theatre. He’s such a great person to work with.
As for Gulshan Grover, obviously having this reputation of being a bad man, it was a bit scary meeting him at first. But he’s really very sweet. I’ve also learnt so much working with him.
